In Repose, The Stats

Some bloggers are neurotic stat watchers. Not me. I occasionally view them for my own amusement. I have been watching a steady increase over the last two years to where I have, amazingly, several hundred page views every day.

I decided yesterday to take a peek at the stats and was very surprised to see how popular In Repose became on May 5.

I had nearly 2100 page views!

Then on the next day more than a 1000!

Holy Moly. Did I write a fabulous post on May 5 or what? It was about Group Dreaming. Maybe thousands of people dreamed about my blog and decided to check me out on the same day or next day!

Well, nothing quite so entertaining like that happened. It seems like I was added to the Boing Boing blog for a post I wrote not on May 5 but for one I wrote a long while ago in June, 2007, Win a FREE Prepaid Cremation.

I'll take a trackback from Boing Boing anyday. Their tag line is: A Directory of Wonderful Things.

Virtual Murder

A 43 year old Japanese woman has been arrested and jailed for committing a Virtual Murder.

Seriously.

The larger issue for me is not this silly story about computer hacking and this arrest, but how some humans now interact with others through these machines more comfortably than they can or do in person. Its a trap one can easily fall into, and I see it happening all around me.

I would suggest spending more time with real people and the real earth for a real life.
